How to chnge Siri request,Siri requests go straight to HomePod

Is there a setting to fix an old problem I’ve seen here? My wife’s Siri requests go straight to HomePod - not her phone (15ProMax which worked fine when it was mine), mine do not on my phone. It is also not working with calls and texts on CarPlay. Basically Siri ONLY works for her via HomePod. It’s not HomePod settings or it would do the same for me and our daughter.

Homepod Siri no longer works when iPhone is near. Before the latest upgrades, my HomePod, first version, used to default as the Siri responder no matter what other iOS devices are near. After Upgrading to iOS 17 on phone and HomePod, If my iPhone is present both iPhone and HomePod show siri lights and then they "cancel" each other out and no Siri actions happen. Any solutions??
