garage band guitar playing feedback noise

when im playing guitar with the slapped overdrive effect, i can turn it up pretty loud over my headphones and not get feedback, but when i use sliced cones or basically any other, i get very loud feedback without having to turn it up loud at all. i heard it might be the internal mic? other than that any other ideas about what it could be??
