Logic Pro - exporting as an audio file results in a SILENT file

I just updated Logic Pro to 11.1. I made several recordings as I always did in the past several years, changed zero settings, and waveforms generated. Playing back in the DAW confirmed that I indeed recorded the sound. But upon exporting the sounds, it resulted in files that are the exact lengths of each of the projects plus the file size I expected -- but they're dead quiet.

Is this a bug, or is there a new setting I don't know about?

Well, I finally had a chance to poke around and I found the answer:

Now, if you export an audio track while the input monitoring button is toggled on, the exported track will be silent. This is either a bug or a very, very poorly thought out new feature -- I keep that thing on because how else am I supposed to hear myself as I record?! Now I have to remember to toggle it off when I'm done recording.
