When I open iMovie it is too big for my screen I cannot reduce the size

To adjust the size of the iMovie screen, put your cursor on one of the corners of the project screen, and drag it inward. If you cannot see the corner, put your cursor in the gray bar at the top of the screen (where the project title is located) and, while pressing down, slide the screen down and toward the middle of your display screen. That will reveal the corner.
