Past iPhone Calendar events are no longer faded out

Past events on the daily calendar screen are still bold instead of faded as in the recent past (and forever before). This makes it difficult to differentiate active/future events from those whose time has come and gone. How do I return to the prior format?

I am having the exact same issue. I can’t believe that no one else is chiming in on this one. It is very annoying and I haven’t been able to find any more information on it or come up with a workaround. I’m guessing that it happened after one of the more recent iOS updates. Thanks Apple.

Is there a fix??
You can let Apple know what you'd like to see here:

Product Feedback - Apple

And, if the date on the event isn't enough to tell you that it occured in the past, you might want to explore some of the many, many (many) third-party calendar apps available in the App Store. Perhaps one of them would better meet your needs. I've used Fantastical and Week Cal. Off the top of my head, I dont' know if they have that feature or not, though.

As Idris points out, and has pointed out on several other threads that I've been involved with, posting issues and potential resolutions does very little to escalate things. Submitting feedback through the attached link is your best bet to get Apple to actually listen and maybe take action, if enough people submit feedback on the same issue. Otherwise, we are all just whining in an echo chamber.

WeekCal definitely does.

WeekCal definitely does.

OK, the first real alternative solution provided in this string, I had high hopes.

Installed WeekCal just as fast as I could on my iPhone 15 Pro.

The first thing that I noticed is that past calendar events are most definitely NOT faded out. Maybe you've got to pay for a trial or "pro" subscription in order to get that to work, I don't know.

The second thing that I noticed is that if I clicked anywhere in the WeekCal app, to check out or change a setting, or to get more detail on a view, I got a nag screen to buy a subscription, with the options to either do it or remind me later.

Bye Bye WeekCal.

I am most definitely not a fan of the resident iOS Mail and Calendar applications on my devices, and I have tried for YEARS to get away from both of them. And every time I do, I start to realize that no matter how bad they are, they are tightly coupled with everything that I do on a daily basis. And when I start messing around, bad things start happening. That's my non-technical take. My more philosophical take is, why the **** does Apple keep taking AWAY basic stable functionality in these apps that works fine and has worked that way for YEARS. The OP wasn't asking for anything new, like me, they were asking why it was taken away in the first place. I've got my own post about the wonderful new Calendar icons that now suddenly appear next to any all day event, in my case, they added functionality that no one asked for and ruined the basic view of the Calendar so that it's harder to differentiate among various appointments. Add to it now this removal of the fading for past appointments and yeah, I'd really like a fix to Calendar or a good solid alternative. Unless I'm missing something, WeekCal probably isn't that alternative.

Sorry.

No one here in this user-to-user forum can answer that sort of question. Send your feedback to Apple.

My bad Idris. I should have said, the OP was looking for a solution for something that Apple had taken away. I fully realize that there is no Apple participation in these forums.

Not sure what if anything changed but I am noticing a very subtle fading of past events in Calendar on my iOS devices. You really have to look for it, but it’s there, and it wasn’t there before. Wondering if Apple actually did something, or maybe it was a function of calendar syncing catching up? I don’t know. The fading is nowhere near what it was before, but it’s something.
