I am trying to install the latest update on a mac book pro 16" 2019, this error message is doing an imitation of the 10th circle of ****.
An error occurred installing the update. Try again or select another startup disk.
When I try to restart the same message comes up.

that means a major component that appeared to be fine was actually damaged, missing or wrong version.
If your Mac starts up to a circle with a line through it - Apple Support

Now it is showing a circle with a slash through it and gives me website: support.apple.com/mac/startup
