Unable to access router web interface after install of proxy and certificates
Unable to Access Router Web Interface on MacBook Pro M3 and iPhone 16 Pro Max after recent installation of proxies, certificates, and other software.
Hi everyone,
Until recently, I had no issues accessing my router’s web interface via tplinkwifi.net or 192.168.0.1 on my MacBook Pro (Sequoia 15.1.1) and iPhone 16 Pro Max (18.1.1). However, after installing certificates and changing some settings, it stopped working. Here’s what I’ve tried so far to resolve the issue:
- Cleared the browser cache and history.
- Used a private browser session.
- Tried using Chrome instead of Safari.
- Performed a factory reset on the router.
- Blocked cookies.
Unfortunately, none of these steps have worked.
Additional Information:
• The TP-Link app is still working fine on my MacBook Air.
• I was able to log into the router interface using my work laptop without any problems.
• On Chrome, I’ve encountered error messages like:
• NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID
• “An attacker is trying to pretend to be www.google.com, or a Wi-Fi sign-in screen has interrupted the
connection.”
These messages are frustrating, and I suspect the issue may involve the following:
- Firewall settings: My Mac is operating in stealth mode, which could be blocking incoming traffic.
- Rotating Wi-Fi MAC address/iCloud settings: I disabled them, but the problem persists.
- Certificate/ Profile: A certificate that has been installed or profile but these have been deleted, I think.
Additionally, I received the following message on Chrome, which was alarming:
“You cannot visit landing.google.com right now because the website uses HSTS.”
I’ve uninstalled any proxies and filters that might have caused the issue, but that hasn’t resolved it. Safari also displays a message saying I’m not connected to the router’s Wi-Fi network, which adds to my confusion.
After spending an entire day troubleshooting, I’m reaching out for help. Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this?
Thanks in advance!
Yvan
