How to disable transparency mode for my AirPods?

i don't use the noise cancellation, i especially don't use the transparency. the transparency mode hurts my ears, making them have lots of pressure and messes with my balance. is the off mode coming back soon?

Permanently disable adaptive transparency mode on AirPods Pro 2 Is there a way to permanently disable the adaptive transparency mode on the AirPods Pro 2? I bought these so I could switch between transparency mode to maintain awareness of my surroundings when walking, and noise cancellation to prevent further hearing loss in loud environments. The adaptive setting seems cool on paper, but in practice, everything is muffled. The headphones seem to want to block ambient noise (like rain), which then makes it difficult to hear important things (like approaching cars or people). The issue I'm having is that when I hold the stem in noise cancellation mode to switch back to transparency mode, the headphones will instead select the new adaptive transparency mode. If I try to cycle past it to go to the actual transparency mode, it just switches back to noise cancellation. Since this update, I have had to open the control center and manually activate the actual transparency mode every time I finish walking through a construction site or crossing an overpass, which both adds time to my commute and takes my attention away from my surroundings. I know this sounds like a trivial complaint, but it's honestly a pain, since the AirPods did everything I wanted them to do prior to the update. I am hoping/wondering that/if there is a way to set the actual transparency mode as the default or if I can disable adaptive mode entirely (which would be preferable).

Why do my AirPods Pro automatically switch to Transparency mode? my airpod pros have recently started switching automatically to transparency mode, and i cannot turn it off. when i try to do so, i hear three quick beeps and the headphones return to transparency mode/ANC mode. why can’t i turn either mode off? i’ve tried resetting the airpods, forgetting the device, etc. which works for about 5 minutes, but then the transparency mode notification beeps and i can’t turn it off. Hey, I was experiencing this issue as well but just found the answer. If you navigate to Settings > AirPods (the same place where you can toggle between the other noise, control settings) and navigate further down the page, there is a new toggle labeled “Off Listening Mode”. This will allow the continued use of the off setting.

For as far as I know you can disable the transparency mode, I do that via control center>press the volume slider for my AirPods > press the ANC button>select off
