Data transfer from windows to Mac using usb cable

the Migration Assistant is not reliable. Several attempts have failed. I want to connect my MacBook Pro to my Thinkpad using the USB A to USB c cable. How do I view files across this cable from my MacBook Pro and move/copy into my Mac?
