Transfer of data to new ipad

I have transferred my date from my old to a new one, including the Word and Excel apps. However, when I open these apps on new iPad I get message- Activate Microsoft 365 to create and edit documents- start 1 month free trial. Why is this? It was free on old iPad. Is this anything to do with screen size as somebody suggested or just a snag in the transfer to my new iPad?

iPad, iPadOS 17

For iPad devices with a screen larger than 10.1”, the Microsoft Office Apps for iPad require an active Microsoft 365 Subscription. This is a licensing requirement imposed by Microsoft - and is entirely beyond Apple's control.

If you don’t have an active Office 365 subscription, functionality is limited to opening and reviewing existing documents.
