If I buy a *NEW* Macbook from the previous year, will I be able to activate AppleCare for it?

I'm looking into buying a 2023 *NEW* Macbook Pro, clearly it's from last year but it is brand new, not refurbished. Will I be able to activate Apple Care for it even if it is a model from 2023?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.7

That only applies, however, if you buy from an authorized Apple reseller, or from Apple themselves (such as from their "refurbished" store). If you buy from an unauthorized seller, the warranty period and time to purchase AppleCare would have started from the date the device was originally sold by whoever was the original retailer, so not only will you probably not be able to purchase AppleCare for that device, the warranty may well have expired.

Regards.
