How Can I Purchase Music from the iTunes Store on my windows PC?

I found it necessary recently to download and reinstall iTunes for windows only to discover that things have apparently changed. iTunes seems to only support podcasts and audio books now.

I downloaded the Apple music app for windows only to discover yet again, that I cannot purchase music via the apple store with this app.

How do I purchase music from the store?
