Old Chrome Versions deleted to Trash moved to System Data, please help I need space

My M1 2020 MacBook Air has ~500 GB of storage on the hard drive. It's updated to Sequoia 15.0.1 and I've only got 36.23 GB of space left.

I was looking through my Storage Data to figure out what I could delete & I saw that my applications were 134.73 GB of space. I realized Chrome took up 76.59 GB and after some investigating I found +70 GB of old versions dating back to 2 years ago.

Made sure I could deleted them & I sent them to the trash where I deleted them. My applications storage dropped down to 60.48 GB with 74.78 GB in the trash. Then emptying it permanently led my System Data to go from 134.26 GB to 204.35 GB.

Why did all of the trash get saved? I don't have Time Machine set up & I followed some info to open up my Disk Utility but I don't understand how to permanently remove the +70 GB of old chrome version files from my Mac.

Also, why did my device/Chrome decided to keep all those old files? Is there a setting somewhere that I might've messed with or something not working? Is my System Data supposed to be that large at 134 GB or is that also old trash that hasn't been removed?

This isn't my field or skillset but I can't find the answers I'm looking for online so please help me 😭
