Apple Policy on Chat Reps Refusing to Provide Their Names

I would like a clear answer on this.

during a recent chat session with an Apple rep, they did not want to provide their name when I asked politely who I was speaking with.

transcript….

”I would love to share my [name] to you. However, due to the nature of our session.  Apple policy doesn't allow me to share this information…..”

What policy does Apple have that would PREVENT their agents from providing their names? How would you feel if you walked up to a customer service rep at a store counter to ask a question - and they didn’t have their name badge on - and when you ask them for their name, they tell you store policy says they can’t tell you. ?? Nobody would be cool with that.

That doesn’t sound legit. Did the agent just lie to me?
