New Mac Mini M4 doesn't see music

I have a new Mac Mini and because it doesn't have much internal storage, I copied the music folder onto a drive and pointed Music to that folder. The playlists and some of the music is there but a lot of it is not recognized. I can see the songs on the folder but not in the Music program.

I recently copied the music from a 2012 Macbook Pro to a 2019 Macbook Pro with no problem.

In a forum it is tough to say what you have or haven't done. What I would recommend that you do is just give AppleCare a phone call and they can help you sort it out. If you don't know the phone number for your country just click AppleCare Contact Info

For what it is worth, when I move my media libraries (music, photos & movies) to external drives to get started I have the app off and then navigate to where I put the library and simply double click on the library. This teaches the app where the library is now located and if you look in the apps preferences you should see the libraries new location.
