Connecting trackpad/keyboard to Mac mini M4

Hi,

The thing is very strange. I have older MacBook, Apple trackpad and Magic Keyboard. Few days ago I bought new Mac mini. Connecting trackpad and keyboard without a wire wasn't easy, but after few attempts it worked (I still don't know how). I was using Mac mini, all was good, but then I had to move back to my MacBook, so I turned it off and connected trackpad and keyboard to MacBook again.

And now is the case - there is no way to connect any device to Mac mini. I tried to do it again wireless and nothing. Only profile log in screen view. I thought wire is a problem, so I bought one usb-c/lightning to make it work. I removed keyboard and trackpad from MacBook, they are not connected to anything else, they are charged, I turned them off/on many times, I was restarting Mac mini many times, and nothing. Any different devices are not plugged to Mac mini. Even opening system in safe mode is useless, because I can't do anything in it without keyboard and mouse. Trying with other Bluetooth mouse didn't help, it's not connecting with Mac.

I don't know what to do, all was good, and now I have only useless small box which I can't control by anything...

Somebody help, please?

Borrow or buy a wired USB keyboard and mouse to use to reinstall your Bluetooth devices. You can use a pc keyboard and mouse if need be.

It’s always a good idea to keep a set of USB devices on hand for just this sort of thing. All veteran users keep a set. You can probably buy a set at Walmart for $20. They don’t have to be fancy to work.

To connect these to the M4 Mac mini you will also need a USB-A to USB-C plug adapter for each. You can buy them in pairs for about $10. Search Amazon.

The following will require any USB keyboard and mouse. If you don’t have them, borrow or buy them, they are inexpensive!

1.     Connect the USB keyboard and mouse to the computer.

7.     Open System Preferences – Bluetooth

8.     Turn on Bluetooth

9.     Pair the wireless keyboard and mouse.

10.  Unplug the USB keyboard and mouse and begin testing the wireless devices again.
