Tried on laptop running Sequoia 15.1, desktop Sonoma 14.6 and some transitions won't work, specifically wipe up, down, left and right and cross-dissolve, did latest update tyo iMovie 10.4.3, any help would be appreciated.

Often deleting preferences will cure problems of this type. To delete preferences open iMovie while holding down the option and command keys and selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears. IiMovie will open in a brand new blank library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Now see if the transitions will work properly.
