Totally confused Seasoned Senior

I have changed my email password numerous times, checked what version my MacBook Air is running and still cannot get my outlook mail; yet, it works fine on my Iphone and Ipad. I am not tech savvy so can someone tell me please, exactly what steps I need to correct this?

Basically you need to remove the Microsoft mail account and re-add it (if your Mail version doesn't list Outlook.com as an option when you re-add the account try Exchange), though Microsoft will push you to use their own Outlook app.
