MacBook Air 256GB storage for photo editing and cloud usage

going to buy a MacBook air. Looking at 13 and 15 inch. is 256 storage plenty if all I do is photo editing. My old MacBook pro is at full storage with 500GB. The apple salesperson suggested not even loading anything on my new MacBook. He said just use the cloud....right now I pay 3$/mo. Wont that go up if I put everything on the cloud? Trying to decide on 256 or 512 GB storage?

if your Mac is "almost full" @ 500GB, you may want to get at least that much storage on your new Mac. I would recommend getting as much storage as you can afford.

additionally, you don't need to rely on iCloud for excessive data. you could employ an external drive (or three) on which to keep extra data. I personally keep very little on my internal drive.
