How can I disable "Local Network" permission pop-ups for Chrome on macOS 15.1?

On both my work Macbook pro and my personal Macbook air (both relatively new devices running on Sequoia), I have been absolutely PLAGUED with permissions pop-ups requesting access for the same permissions over and over, and it's very annoying. This has happened with multiple types of permissions, but the most egregious by far has been Chrome triggering a pop-up asking whether I want to "Allow 'Google Chrome' to find devices on local networks? This will allow you to select from available devices and display content on them." Now, I never use screen casting, nor any other features that would make this permission necessary for me to allow, so I hit "Don't allow," knowing that I could always go into my settings under "Privacy & Security" and go to "Local Network" to re-enable that permission if I ever wanted to.

My PROBLEM is that this decision is not respected, and this same pop up has reared its ugly head at least 20, maybe 30 times on each laptop, every time Chrome updates, my mac reboots, or I simply look at it funny. It simply won't stop asking for Local Network permission, and when I finally gave up and tried hitting "Allow" instead, just hoping it would stop, it STILL didn't remember that permission, and I am STILL getting this pop up all the time needlessly. When I check the aforementioned spot in the settings, I see multiple different instances of Chrome represented there, all with their permissions unchecked, leading me to wonder if each different version/update of Chrome is being treated as a different program needing its own permissions to be allowed. Obviously that shouldn't be the case, thus reporting this issue here. Maybe it's a Chrome issue, maybe it's a Mac issue-- I have no way of knowing, but I beg for a solution so my workflow stops being interrupted by pop-ups for the same permission for the same program over and over. :(

I'd love some way in that settings panel to simply auto-deny all programs that request this permission, or disable this feature entirely... Heck, I'd be happy with some advanced terminal command to do such a thing, rather than being stuck with "user friendly" pop-ups that I can't disable or automate with any degree of control. Thanks for listening.

Appears to happen with every Chrome release.

Awesome, thanks Kevin! That's super useful.

Looks like they've already put in a bug report to apple- hopefully it gets taken care of quickly. :)

From https://issues.chromium.org/issues/376743512 :

"Users report that they are see the local network permission prompt multiple times, even after they accept the permission. The permission prompt is supposed to be shown only once.

Filed FB**** with Apple. b/377354597 tracks the feedback request. "

Let me ask you this ... do you have other Google Devices in your home, such as Google Nest thermostats? The reason I'm asking is because I found this: "If Google is repeatedly asking to connect to devices on your local network, it's likely because one of your Google apps, like Chrome, Google Home, or Google Assistant, needs access to discover and interact with other devices on your home network."

I happen to have two Google Nests and somehow they got disconnected from my phone app. I re-established the connection. I'll let you know how it goes.

Try disabling Chrome in System Settings-->Privacy & Security-->Local Network.

You really have to pay attention when installing apps in Sequoia. If it requires your password to install there is usually a dialogue box that pops up requesting that the app have access to the Local Network. Just click on don't allow.

If you continue to have these permissions pop-ups happening you might have to trash chrome and start again.

I haven't received the prompt since Tue 11-19. But three things happened and I don't know which one fixed it:

1) I reactivated the Google Nest on my phone (somehow it was disconnected). --- Doesn't help in your situation.

2) Chrome came up with ANOTHER update on 11-20 after their update on 11-19 ...

3) Apple released 15.1.1, which I updated on 11-20.

I'm running 14.7 on my Mac Mini and I don't ever get these Google Prompts, so I have to conclude that it is an interaction between Chrome and 15.x at this point.
