Keyboard connected to Mac mini M4's front USB C ports stops working

I have a keychron K2 connected via a usb c cable to the front of the Mac mini M4. When I type, the keys light up and the indicator light shows that it is charging but nothing happens onscreen. The only way to fix this is to restart the Mac mini. Is this a bug?
