deleted voice memos

I transferred some voice memos from my iphone to my mba 2022 m2.  They

sat in a folder on my desktop and took up 30 gb, so I transferred them

to an external hd.  They definitely went to the ext hd.  I then right

clicked and moved the folder on my desktop to the trash.  I then emptied

trash.  I'm not sure if the deleted voice memos went to the trash or

somewhere else in my computer - I didn't check the trash folder before

deleting, I just assumed they went there.  So now there is zero

difference in the gb available on my computer.  30 gb was not freed up

at all.  I looked in the voice memos app and there was nothing in the

recently deleted there, nor should there be because they were deleted

from a folder on my desktop.  I tried restarting my computer.  Where

could the voice memos have gone so I can get rid of them to free up the

30 gb of space?
