Download from iCloud error

I just downloaded photos from my iCloud to my computer. Put them in a folder on the desktop, and noticed that from the Icon view some say “Error” under the photo and/or video. From the List view I hover over the iCloud symbol with an exclamation in the center and it says “You don’t have enough quota to upload this item.” I can still view and or watch video w/ sound

What does that mean?

I have enough storage available on the hard drive?

iCloud storage is full

which is why I am downloading the photos & video to delete off of iCloud.

If that’s your goal, you don’t need iCloud at all. Simply transfer from your phone to your Mac.

so long as you were not optimizing storage (settings - photos), your originals are on your iPhone. If you were optimizing, I’d enable iCloud on the Mac to sync your collection. You can then turn off iCloud on the Mac and delete the photos from your phone.

It sounds like you sync desktop and documents to iCloud. So, you’re downloading photos from iCloud only to try to upload those again into iCloud. Recommend turning on iCloud sync on your Mac. Your photos will then download and sync from iCloud. Once complete, you can stop syncing, disconnect the sync and delete the photos in iCloud.

Thank you for your quick response! I wish there was a collection on iPhoto of iCloud Photos/videos to view.

iCloud sync is on on the Mac

My goal is to delete photos off my phone but store on the Mac either in iPhoto (as long as it’s not sync’d) or on desktop (in case it is) to free up phone space.

When I go to Photos > Settings > iCloud > uncheck iCloud Photos it says “Your iCloud Photos is currently updating” options are “Continue Updating” or “Turn Off”

It’s been saying that for hours, is there a way to view that updating status?
