Impact of Apple Intelligence on battery

I would like to inquire about the impact of Apple Intelligence on battery life, particularly in iPhones. My new phone appears to be consuming more battery than expected, albeit not significantly. I suspect that this is due to the iPhone’s apparent learning of my usage patterns to optimize its utilization of Intelligence features. For instance, when attempting to create “Memories,” the iPhone indicates that it is processing all the photos, which can take a considerable amount of time, even though it only occurs while charging.

I would like to know if, in the future, if I were to disable Apple Intelligence in the Settings app for a specific period, would it result in a decrease in battery consumption during that time?

I would also like to understand whether Apple Intelligence consumes battery power only while using those features or in the background as well for the purpose of “Learning”?

It’s too early to tell what the ultimate battery consumption effect AI will have. It’s barely been on the market a few weeks and many features are not yet enabled. ChatGPT will also have an effect, but less so, because the majority of processing is down on cloud servers.

Apple may have internal studies and testing, but is unlikely to release such data so early in the game. I’d suggest you do your own comparisons using the battery health information in your iPhone. But any data you collect will probably be meaningless long term.
