Use Aftertouch to switch to channel in Main Stage

Is it possible to use aftertouch to switch between different channel strips within a patch? Specifically, I'd like to trigger a timpani hit initially, and then, as I apply aftertouch, switch to a timpani roll. Additionally, the volume of the roll should increase as the pressure from aftertouch intensifies.
