Apple Password app in iPad just comes up with blank screen although Password works to retrieve and use passwords.

I can retrieve and use passwords OK from the app. In Settings it shows the same number of entries as my iPhone does.

But when I open the app it just gives a blank white screen. In my iPhone (13) it works perfectly well and I can see and edit password entries via the app. But not in my iPad.

Both are on ios 18.1.

I have tried turn in off sync, powering off iPad, powering on, turning on sync. Makes no difference.

Any ideas?

Found a fix.

  1. Tap the screen controls at the top (three dots/ellipsis)
  2. At the bottom of the screen, tap ‘New Window’
  3. Passwords should now appear. You can close the blank window.

Neither remedy works - just a blank screen - no three dots at the top and tapping the bottom doesn’t give me a new window option - just a blank screen wherever I tap?

Close the Passwords App using the App Switcher. To expose the App Switcher page, swipe upwards from the bottom edge to the centre of the screen - and pause briefly before lifting your finger. You should now see a thumbnail image of each open App; simply swipe the corresponding thumbnail off the top of the screen.

After force-closing the Passwords App, perform a forced-restart of your iPad:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
