How to recover lost music after canceling Apple Music?

I decided not to continue with Apple Music after a trial period and now all the music that I had previously, that I had bought, has vanished. This represents a considerable amount of money, and unless I can regain access it looks like it has been stolen ! I see people have been complaining for years about this and it is still happening.
