imessages keep deleting for one contact

After i got the new ios 18 update, meassages from the present all the way back to september were all deleted for one contact. I can still text this person but every time i send a new message, one message from the top of our new conversation gets deleted. So, everything from before september is there but there is a massive chunk of texts missing after that and I can only view around 20 texts from our current conversation while new ones delete the beginning messages of this conversation.

Is there like a new text limit or is this a glitch with the new update? How do i fix this and is there any way to get my deleted texts back? imessage is set to keep texts forever and icloud is also connected to it so I don't know what else to do.
