why do I need to authenticate on my iPhone when I try to add something to the shopping list?

I am in my own home. Have paid enough for all these Homepods. Why can’t adding something to the shopping list be easy. Apple intelligence needs improve so much. I could see maybe , just maybe if I asked to unlock my door. But to add something to my grocery list.

The Reminders is a personal request and it is not recognizing your voice as the owner of the device linked to the HomePods. The Shopping List is part of the Reminders app. On that device you can shut off Siri and turn it back on to retrain your voice to be recognized by Siri. For help in setting up Personal Requests and what you can do, review these 2 articles.
