Not a genuine Apple battery notification

Not a genuine Apple battery" suddenly appeared on iPhone

My battery was working just fine then all of a sudden it’s coming up with this message

I brought the Phone brand new from a reputable shop, nothings been replaced. It was working fine when I woke up, now its shutting down on its own and showing this message.

i have restarted the phone and shut it down, no luck there.

i have an appointment on Monday at apple, but i want to know has anyone else received this message and in the same boat? What did apple do to fix it? Does it take long? I don’t have the luxury of leaving my phone there for more than afew hours, I leave for two weeks the next day.

iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 18

It's likely that the shop where you bought the phone is not as reputable as you may think, and they sold you a used iPhone with a replaced battery. If that's the case, you will likely need to pay Apple to replace the battery with an actual genuine part. Or better yet, return the phone to the shop and get your money back.

Either the shop you bought it from is not an authorized retailer and they sold you a phone that was tampered with or had a known hardware problem or something has failed.

That message doesn't always indicate the battery is not genuine, it may also indicate a hardware fault that is preventing it from working properly.

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store. They will examine it and explain your options.

A battery replacement can often be done in an hour or so if they have the parts in stock.

Note that if the device has been tampered with, Apple will likely refuse to service it.
