Apple TV remote on lock screen iOS18

Since iOS 18, sometimes if I use my iPhone to control our AppleTV, the remote will stay on my Lock Screen indefinitely. It’s frustrating because my phone unlocks slower with the remote up. It doesn’t scan faceID right away to unlock my phone but waits for me to try to interact with the remote, which I don’t need indefinitely, then unlocks, then I can swipe away from the remote.

it appears like this in the attached photo. Quitting the TV remote app doesn’t fix it. I’ve tried toggling off live updates and notifications in Settings.

the only solution I have found is restarting the phone.
