iOS18 GPS Issue / Apple Maps only

Hi,

I have the same issue since upgrading to IOS 18.

GPS location is unstable.

Waze, google maps and other app's which rely on GPS are having GPS reception dropped from time to time. Navigation maps just freeze until GPS reception is back.

I have oppened a case in Apple advanced support - 1024531*****

So far they have requested me to reset the phone, remove the VPNs and use Apple maps instead of google maps or waze.

However, none of these action have solved the problem so far :-(.

Facing the same issue on iPhone 15 Pro iOS 18.1. GPS keeps jumping all over the place on CarPlay. Another post said wired connection solved the problem. Not sure if this has been taken up to be resolved in the next version!! Battery would also be affected due to the continuous changes in GPS from current location to somewhere in the middle of the Ocean.

I also have the same issue. iOS 18, iPhone 16pro. It will just lose my GPS on maps and then will correct itself and then lose me again. This never happened until iOS 18.

I just lost my job dashing for DoorDash due to this what is apple going to do to fix it?

I am running into the same and using IOS 18.1 on an iPhone 14 Max Plus. This weekend GPS Maps, Google Maps, Maps.me were all useless as they were not giving the right directions and froze after a short usage. Paps and Google Maps could not give me reliable driving directions (and missed exits, turns, etc) multiple times. Does anybody have an idea how to resolve it? (Rebooting did not help while trying to figure out my directions yesterday and today)

Just noticed this issue on 18.2.1 location was way off.

Add me to the list. I wish I could downgrade to IOS 17. Waze hasn't been the same since IOS 18.

Same here. I had the iPhone 15 with iOS 17 and only use Apple maps. As soon as I upgraded to iOS18 maps starts out fine, but several times in a short period of time will show me offgrid and re-route me. Someone suggested I use Waze so I downloaded that and had the same issue. iOS18.1 didn't resolve the issue. I upgraded to the iPhone 16 Pro Max and have the same issue. I haven't tried Google maps yet but a thread on Reddit says that app has the same issues (though in that thread those people said Apple maps worked fine). I was hoping with the new update (18.1.1) they'd solve it, but still nothing. Not cool when I'm going somewhere new and desperately need directions!

I have solved this issue on my iphone 12 mini running IOS 18.1 by resetting the location and privacy settings.

Same issue for me. Had the 15 pro max and up until iOS 18 no GPS issues in maps. Upgraded to the 16 pro max and same issue. Quite frustrating when you’re somewhere you absolutely need directions for! I have also done all those same suggestions to no avail. Very disappointing to hear apple can’t even figure out the issue but I’m guessing many are having the same issue so hopefully we’ll get another update pushed that resolves the issue soon!
