Photos lost in transfer

Iphone 12. I attempted to move photos from my iphone to my computer with a lighting cord. I did it as I usually do, from my iphone shown in my library, internal storage, directly to a folder. There were 71 photos. Once it said they moved, I clicked on the trash can to remove them from my phone. Then I looked in the folder on my computer and only a few were there. The missing photos are not in the recycle bin on the computer and they are not in the deleted photos album on the iphone. They are not in the icloud either. Is there any way to recover the photos?
