Left click randomly stops working in Apple Mail

I can be working in Apple Mail and the left click will randomly stop working e.g. I cannot select mail entries using it. It will work anywhere else except Mail. I can even use the left click to exit Mail and when I open Mail again it is fine. I am running a Mac mini M2 Pro, Sonoma 14.6.1. I am using a Logitech M535 mouse with driver s/w installed.
