This is not a bad thing at all...

That said: if you want to have automatic login, you still can, assuming you don't have FileVault active, nor have a firmware password.

Go to System Settings->Users & Groups, set "Automatically login as " to the account you want.

You will find that when making changes to a lot of the settings in System Settings it is going to require a password.
