Apple Watch won’t unlock MacBook

I have recently updated both Apple Watch and MacBook Air M2. Soon after watch wouldn’t unlock the MacBook. It’s not a definite thing since it seems the MacBook is starting to recognize the watch and then goes to the pass word message. Such a handy feature, would like it back. I have gone through all the settings and restarted everything several times. Appreciate any ideas. Mike
