Seeking Advice on Refund Process for Accidental Subscription

Hello everyone,

I recently encountered an issue with an accidental subscription that resulted in a $45 charge to my account. I contacted Apple Support to request a refund, explaining that I did not intend to subscribe and have not used the service at all. Unfortunately, my request was denied, and I’m now looking for guidance on how to navigate this situation.

Has anyone here successfully managed to obtain a refund for an accidental subscription? I would appreciate any tips or advice on how to proceed, as I want to ensure I handle this correctly.

Thank you for your help!

We are all Apple users, like yourself, in the community, so we have no access to your accounts or details.

It seems that free trials need to be cancelled at least 24 hours before they expire, if you do not want to be charged.

Am no expert in this area, just an Apple user, like yourself.

Below is my understanding of some of the procedures in place:

Apple provides an article. about how to request a refund ...ie: if money has been deducted (not pending) by Apple.

You can: Request a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple - Apple Support

A request that was made and was denied could mean that the subscription was not to one of Apple's own products, and therefore Apple does not have your money. The money could be in the hands of the subscription's developer or the vendor / supplier who provides access to the subscription.

The subscription is likely available to you, and charges may continue, whether you have used it or not, unless you have cancelled it. If needed: See what to do: If you want to cancel a subscription from Apple - Apple Support

The best source of help for a product not made by Apple (a third-party product) is the company or person who made it—its vendor or developer: See how to: Contact a third-party vendor - Apple Support

or

How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

If needed: Apple has a "Report a problem" web-page: https://reportaproblem.apple.com/?s=6

All the best :-)

The people responding on this support forum are users like you. We have no special access to Apple information or your accounts, so unfortunately all we can do is guide you to the information Apple does provide. Apple, however, does not have much on its criteria for refusing refunds. Here are two sections from Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions - Legal - Apple Media Services - Apple

- "All Transactions are final."

I understand this as meaning Apple is starting from a point where any refund is considered an exception. Apple may provide a refund but can also simply say no without having to provide a reason. I understand this can be frustrating but by using the service you agree to the terms.

- "From time to time, Apple may suspend or cancel payment or refuse a refund request if we find evidence of fraud, abuse, or unlawful or other manipulative behavior that entitles Apple to a corresponding counterclaim." Remember that Apple has no way of removing a purchase from your device. They have to trust you are being honest when asking for a refund. It may be certain refund requests might be considered suspicious.

You can see if the terms are different for where you live by clicking on this link Legal - Apple Media Services - Apple select your location and then your language.

If you feel you want to discuss a refund request, try to contact an Apple representative using a telephone or chat request.

Click here --> Choose your country or region - Official Apple Support Select your country, then a product. If you don't see one that handles your issue then keep experimenting with selections until you reach one that gets you a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.
