folders in email are all empty after downloading new iphone. this also happened with new macbook and someone figured it out for me. Now I have the same issue again.

On both devices remove the email address and then re-enter it. On your Mac use the appropriate option, except Hot mail or Outlook, you then choose Microsoft Exchange. If it's a Gmail on both you would choose Google.
