Missing Items in Control Center

Hello, first time Apple product user here, I am using an iPad Pro 4th generation (1TB / Cellular) model.

I have been using this device for about a month and maybe two weeks ago I updated the software to 18.0.1 and after doing the update it seems I am missing my “screenshot’ button in my drop-down control center menu and I can not figure out how to get it back.

I am also missing the “Wi-Fi” on/off button which I had placed there… it is now grouped with the other connectivity icons in a grouped box and I can not drag the icon out of its grouping.

I would like to get these two buttons back individually, I use an input device and can not touch the screen to swipe for screenshots etc.

I also liked the ability to turn Wi-Fi off and on simply from the drop down control center instead of having to open settings and do it from there.

Thanks…

Screenshot isn't a function accessed from the Control Centre.

By far the easiest method to trigger and save a screenshot is to set-up and use the corner-swipe gesture.

  • Open the Settings app on your iPad
  • Go to the General menu and then choose the Gestures option
  • Make sure “Allow Finger to Swipe From Corner” is enabled
  • Choose the action you want (Screenshot) when swiping from either (or both) the left and right corners

Now that you have enabled the corner swipe, you can easily capture a screenshot with just your finger (or Apple Pencil). Just swipe diagonally from the lower-left or lower-right corner of the screen towards the centre; this will immediately trigger the screenshot.

The other ways to trigger a screenshot from an iPad are described here:

Similarly, while WiFi can be enabled/disabled from the Control Centre combined Connectivity group, there isn't a single control button option for the Control Centre:

WiFi can also be controlled directly from iPad Settings:

Settings > WiFi > WiFi - set to ON or OFF as required

There used to be the option for both… before the update :)

I don’t want a big block grouped icons when I had the individual icons there before.

Screenshot was also accessible from the control center.

I am a minimalist and do not enjoy the extra steps honestly… I would like individual selection for only the features I use and was able to use during my first two weeks using this device.

(Top Row) is missing “screenshot” tab/button

(Second Row) is missing “Wi-Fi” button/tab

Wouldn’t it be so nice to have screenshot next to my headlight and camera and the solo wifi button next to my cellular and bluetooth buttons…

It might also be nice if the assistive touch menu if chosen to be left onscreen had an auto-hide feature, similar to how control panel works but maybe on the bottom left of the screen.

Just some thoughts…

To reiterate… yes they used to be available individually, because I placed them there.

No worries, my carrier is shipping out an S9 Plus, this nightmare is almost over and I can get up to date.

this iPad was given to me when my sisters county office switched to surface and I am sure glad I’ve had the chance to experience my first apple product without an investment.

so now I know…

Thank You for your help Lotus.

Screenshots were able to be triggered via the control center if you placed the icon there before the update to 18 and it did not capture the control center in the screenshot, it only captured the background. I have images I saved using the button I had placed there.

WiFi missing button only requires me to take more steps to access it, no matter which way you look at it… I was able to tick it on/off in two steps before (clicking top right to drop down control center then simply clicking the wifi button off or on.

This has reduced my efficiency as I use an input pointing device and assistive touch because a disability hinders me from using gestures in touch fashion, let alone hardly even swipe on a screen… additionally I do not hold this device, it is held via mount for me.

I do not keep assistive touch menu onscreen at any opacity, therefore if I want to take a screenshot I have to enable this in settings just to take the screenshot then backtrack and turn it off again. I now have it setup this way in which a long press to the on-screen assistive menu gives me a screenshot.
