Blocking unknown text messages is not working

I blocked unknown text messages on my iPhone but I still receive multiple random solicitation messages per day. How can I get this feature to work for me? I'm receiving texts meant for someone else who, I presume, had my cellphone number before me plus many junk texts that are meant for me. It's too much and is exhausting to delete them all. Please help!
