Why is Erase Disk right under Eject Disk when I right click on an attached drive?!

I am writing to express my concern regarding the recent redesign of the context menu when right-clicking on attached drives in macOS.

I have noticed that the option to "Erase Disk" appears directly underneath "Eject Disk." This proximity has led to several close calls and nearly resulted in accidental data loss, which would be devastating for many users relying on their devices for important files.

I urge you to reconsider this design choice to improve user safety and minimize the risk of accidental erasure of files. Perhaps a redesign that separates these options or includes a confirmation prompt for the "Erase Disk" function would help mitigate these issues.

or can someone direct me how to rid of this disaster waiting to happen

I appreciate the replies everyone, but I think I was looking for something more along the lines of just losing it entirely there because my quick workaround is just right click eject, but now that these two options are right next to each other and slow me down, I'll have to just take the grab and drag option or open finder and eject on the sidebar.

I mean, it'll take some getting used to.

When you get in the flow with DIT on production, constantly moving tapes and keeping up with the days immediate work, you just feel like you're having a smooth day. Yes, this will slip me up every now and then, possibly every time for a bit, and it will be an annoyance. But I'm also being selfish I acknowledge that.
