Unable to add recovery contact when trying to set up advanced data protection

I’m trying to to set up advanced data protection in Settings:iCloud:Advanced Data Protection:Account Recovery, but when I try to add a recovery contact, a popup message tells me I can’t proceed until my iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS. However, I can confirm that it’s running the latest version.

I see you posted this on an iPhone 11 Pro with iOS 18. I believe it is saying a different phone has not been updated. It could be an old phone that you have left in a drawer. Go to Settings > Apple Account > Look at the list of devices and see if an old phone is listed. If there is click the device and hit Remove from Account. Hope this helps
