Persistent horizontal lines appear on MacBook Pro M1 13" screen

Hi,

this issue is related to the Persistent horizontal lines appear on iMa… - Apple Community topic.

Unfortunately not only iMac's affected in this issue.

I bought my MBP M1 in 2022 January, and a few weeks ago I noticed the light grey horizontal lines on my screen.

It doesn't just depend on the brightness, but as the laptop heats up, the stripes get stronger. When the machine cools down, the stripes will almost disappear.

At first, the affected area was 2-3 centimeters high from the bottom of the screen, but within a few weeks the stripes appeared on the lower third of the screen.

This is quite a big disappointment for me, since I switched to a Mac precisely because I knew that the machines are made with a quality that I can trust, unlike other laptops running well-known operating systems.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to do? In the other thread, I read about someone who had the display replaced on their M1 iMac. How to achieve this?

Plug in an external monitor and compare your results—this would be telling. An external monitor comes directly from the GPU; this would differentiate an internal Display issue on a laptop.

Horizontal typically points to GPU /screen buffer /display-generator

Thanks for the tip! Although I didn't write, I used the MacBook with an extra external monitor all the time. The external monitor gives a perfect picture, there are no stripes.

I've since read somewhere that it may be the screen control unit that gets fried from the heat generated during use, and can only be replaced with the entire display (which is very expensive). This seems to be a component or design flaw. If this is indeed the case, it is very unpleasant and would require a product recall.

Or will Apple replace it for free even beyond the warranty?
