Why does VPN need to be on for WiFi to work?

Hi guys, has anyone faced this similar issue? Been using the iPhone 12 smoothly for some time now then suddenly the wifi connection won’t work until the vpn is turned on from the settings, after it ON the internet works smoothly, I’ve tried almost everything, can someone please assist if they’ve faced similar, it’s driving me nuts !

VPN is absolutely unnecessary on iPhone, unless required by an employer or school. If you are required to use a VPN, then your IT administrator may be able to answer this question. If you are NOT required to use a VPN, don't just turn it off, remove the VPN profile or app completely from your iPhone. The safety you "think" you're getting from using a VPN is false and they usually cause more issues than they can possibly solve.
