Unable to reinstall macOS X after wiping my Mac clean

Ive been using MacOS for a while, and recently I wiped my macbook since its been lagging for a while. When i did that and i went to reinstall it keeps saying, reinstall OS X when it usually says reinstall MacOs. Can anyone help me, I tried OS X yosemite it was very buggy couldnt even use apple discussion or boot up any games.
