keyboard not work when trying to safe boot sonoma on m2 mini

When trying to safeboot on m2 mini , keyboard does not work- pointer driven by trackball does work

tried restart, unplug power, unplug replug keyboard- nothing works . After restart does not allow admin or appleID name password to allow sonoma update Shut off family sharing- admin name password works for all but update..
