Old MacBook Pro laptop 2010

On startup it only shows white screen and no logo. Will not come up with icons?

Excerpted from If your Mac doesn't start up all the way - Apple Support:

"Learn what to do if your Mac starts up to a blank screen, such as an empty gray, black, or blue screen."

Most likely, you will need that MacBook Pro's original, grey, System Install DVD to get anywhere with it.
