Data usage for icloud backup even when data is off

Here’s your updated message for the Apple Forum:

Hello,

I’m experiencing an issue where my iPhone 13 Pro Max (iOS 18.0) seems to be using cellular data for iCloud backups or syncing, even though I’ve turned off cellular data. I lost 34 GB during last night. Here are the specifics:

Device: iPhone 13 Pro Max

iOS Version: 18.0

Issue: Despite having cellular data turned off for iCloud in the settings, I notice data usage related to iCloud backups or syncing. This happens even when I’m connected to Wi-Fi.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

1. Turned off Wi-Fi Assist.

2. Checked iCloud Drive to make sure cellular data is disabled.

3. Monitored Background App Refresh and ensured apps aren’t using cellular data in the background.

4. Verified in System Services that iCloud Backup isn’t using data.

Even with these steps, I’m still seeing data usage that seems to be related to iCloud backups or syncing. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Are there any other settings I should check or troubleshoot?

Thanks in advance for any help! Its sad apple is doing this where data consumption charges are very high in GCC.

Where are you seeing this? What do you see in Settings>Cellular?

If you scroll down, you will see a list of apps and how much cellular data they have used.

These numbers are cumulative. They do not reset unless you manually reset them.

Scroll to the bottom of the list and tap Reset Statistics.

Then check it after a period of time to see exactly what is using cellular data and how much.
