iOS 18 Notification Issue - Urgent Attention Required

Dear Apple Support Team,

I'm writing to report a persistent and frustrating issue with notifications on my iPhone since updating to iOS 18. Despite checking multiple settings and restarting my device, the problem persists.

Issue Description:

After updating to iOS 18, I've stopped receiving notifications for:

1. Emails (native Mail app)

2. WhatsApp (messages and calls)

3. Snapchat

4. All other third-party apps

Notifications only appear when I manually open and check each app. This is extremely inconvenient, causing me to miss important messages, calls, and updates.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

1. Checked Notification Settings for each app (allowed and enabled)

2. Ensured Do Not Disturb is turned off

3. Restarted my iPhone multiple times including force restarts

4. Checked for app updates & off loaded apps that I use on a daily and reinstalled them for notifications to work.

5. Disabled and re-enabled notifications for each app

Device Information:

• iPhone model: iPhone 13 Pro Max

• iOS version: 18.0.1

Request:

I kindly request that you investigate and resolve this issue as soon as possible. Notifications are a critical feature, and this bug is severely impacting my daily usage.

Please provide a prompt solution or an estimated timeline for a fix. If additional information or debugging is required, I'm happy to cooperate.

I have been an iPhone user for more than a decade and I haven’t experienced anything like this in the past

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing back from you.

The behavior of my iPhone 13 Pro is similar to yours, but Apple apps seem to not have an issue with notifications, but for every single 3rd party app notifications don't work at all. Not even the badges. I updated from 18.0.1 to 18.1 and it's the same behavior.

I also have this same problem, No sounds, badges show up I have to open each app to see new content. Also the email doesn’t load automatically I have to refresh it and wait for it to load. This needs to be fixed ASAP or I will be another user leave Apple 🍎 for good. I paid a lot for this phone now I’m starting to think I made a big mistake. Will be waiting for a response from you soon.

Deleting and re-installing the apps seems to work with my iPhone too. As near as I can figure, something about the permissions for notifications seems to be corrupted or missing, and this restores it. Apple apps are, obviously, allow unless otherwise specified while 3rd party apps are deny unless otherwise specified. So this appears to restore the permissions granted to 3rd party apps.

I was responding to the issue of iPhones and iPads not displaying push notifications properly for certain apps after updating to ios18. I found that removing the proton VPN from my iPad seemed to resolve the problem.

I know I didn’t use quite the correct terminology, but it should have been obvious what I was referring to. Rather than nitpicking my choice of words, perhaps try following my advice?

The reason I was "nitpicking" was you were saying to remove an email server that wouldn't be there and VPN apps but didn't mention notifications at all. No one else had posted anything about a VPN app, and since you specified deleting an email server, instead of just email or email client, it looked like your post was in the wrong thread. Since it appears your original post is deleted, it's a bit difficult for other readers to figure out what I was replying to and what your original advice was.
