iPhone Calculator Numbers Not Clearing

OK, One of the denizens in the Lounge was able to replicate the problem and find a solution. lobsterghost1 reports:

I deleted the calculator app from my phone, then reinstalled it and the issue no longer exists. So, we can suggest to people who are having this issue to delete the app, then reinstall it.

Search for calculator and choose the one in the Apple calculator icon. Tap on it to verify the developer is Apple

Yes! I’ve been experiencing this since 18.0 updated. EVERY time! And I use it on my phone. Does not happen on my iPad, just phone. Very frustrating.

Even after clearing the running history, still doesn’t clear prior key entry on key pad. I thought this recent update 18.01 would fix it, no such luck. 🫤

Well, actually, no, I am not experiencing it. I’ve tried to replicate this, but when I clear the calculator it stays cleared, consistently.

As you haven’t posted in this thread before I had no idea what troubleshooting you had already done, and I didn’t want to jump to conclusions.

This is a perplexing problem, because I don’t have it, my wife doesn’t have it, and, asking among other regular users of the forum so far none of them have experienced it either. I don’t doubt that it happens, but none of us have found any commonality among users who experience it.

Even frequent users know how to perform a calculation, hit AC, exit the app, then relaunch it. And 18.1 has not been released yet, so if that is what you have and what you meant, and not 18.0.1, the place to report it is in the beta feedback app.

First, are you clearing the calculator by hitting AC before you close it? If you don’t it is working as designed.

Hello~ Just out of curiosity being a regular user myself …I ran through several simple and complex calculations and can’t replicate the issue as well. Just to ask …have you performed a forced restart?

What calculations are not correct? Every one I’ve tried is correct.

I have the same issue. Each time I open the calculator, the last numbers reappear. Hopefully, Apple will fix this annoying issue.
